Could this be a liquid detection and ejection of liquid for the next iPhone, similar to the Apple Watch. These files were found by me in the recently leaked iOS 11 GM IPSW. Can anyone see anything else unusual in this? Could the iPhone 8 also be more water resistant and swim-proof?
Old news and not a leak, lightning port water detection was already added in iOS 10. It works on the iPhone 6S and 7 currently:
